I love working with video and helping people and organisations to tell their stories. I’ve been producing documentaries, interviewing and storytelling across a range of media for many years.  I’ve run a successful video production company overseas and worked as a broadcast journalist here in Aotearoa for nine years. I directed the TVNZ series Asia Downunder, reported and produced feature stories for Radio New Zealand and I also made a video travel series for Air New Zealand.

 

I moved back to New Zealand from Bali in 2020 and am enjoying sharing my range of skills and services with kiwi clients.

Independent Film: Camera / Director / Editor

An expedition into the West Kalimantan (Borneo, Indonesia) following David Metcalf, a photo journalist who specialises in indigenous cultures. 

This short film follows "Dayak Dave" as he takes a group of people into the Dayak communities to connect with the Dayak people of Saham Village in West Kalimantan.  A highlight of this was the welcoming into the "Long House", a 50m long hut that the communities live in.

Independent Feature Documentary: Director / Editor

"Chasing the Dream" is a feature length documentary and winner of "Viewer’s Choice Award" at Santa Cruz Surf Film Festival in September 2014.  This film follows the incredible and unlikely journey of young surfing sensation Oney Anwer.  Over four years we document this charismatic young Indonesian, from his stories of hustling tourist at age 4, to being sponsored by Rip Curl and attending an Australian high school with the aim of graduating on the World Surf Tour.

Promotional Video:  The Yoga Barn - Editor / Line Producer / Second Camera

The Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali, is a leading South East Asia yoga studio providing 130+ classes per week in yoga, meditation, dance, healing and health and wellness.  Line produced with DOP and Cinematographer working closely with the founder of the Yoga Barn.

Promotional Video:  The BaliSpirit Festival - Editor 

The BaliSpirit Festial is a Global Celebration of Yoga, Dance, and Music in Ubud Bali. I’ve been involved in this yearly event for ten years, coverin it as a volunteer at the start, until being the official video director of the Nigh concert in 2019.

Spoken Features Producer, RNZ

A story about Refugee Services New Zealand.  They welcome around 750 refugee and provide additional sponsored family reunification for 300 family members. Refugee Services relies on the goodwill of  volunteers throughout New Zealand to aid in the settlement process of Refugees.

Travel Series: Destination New Zealand , Air New Zealand - Director

As a freelance Director for the Tourism Network, directed a camera crew and presenter on a 12 part-travel series around New Zealand for 6 months.  The series, presented by Miriama Smith, covered stories on Aotearoa of the cultural uniqueness of the many areas, adventure, accommodation and cuisine for Air New Zealand in-flight media and Australia’s Channel 7.  Successfully directed six of these shows.
